Project: Stormwater Management Plan (SWM calculations, design, and drafting, as well as fire suppression plan calculations, design and drafting)
Location: Woodville, Ontario
Project Completion:
On-going
Client: Woodville Pellet Corporation

This Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) was completed to account for current on site drainage as well as alterations to existing drainage patterns as a result of a proposed development. The site area is 49 hectares in size surrounded by rural, primarily agricultural and residential, land. There are currently two (2) warehouse buildings on the Site as well as a house and a barn, and a large warehouse and an addition to one of the existing building are proposed to be constructed.  Construction of additional structures, road enhancements, parking lots and installation of operational equipment for the proposed development began in late 2009 and is proposed to be ongoing in the spring and summer of 2011.

The purpose of the SWMP is to define the extent of runoff pre- and post-development, to provide the necessary details for mitigative measures to manage additional stormwater generated on site due to the development. Mitigative measures, imposed through stormwater management system design, will ensure that the proposed development will not have an adverse impact on local or regional drainage patterns and will not increase the likelihood of flooding upstream or downstream of the Site. The SWMP has been designed to accommodate water flows on-site which would be expected to result from an extreme precipitation event (100 year storm).  The SWMP provides a facility design, including grading plans, locations and specifics of ditches and culverts, and a dual purpose stormwater management / fire suppression pond design, that will address quantity and quality control of surface water runoff generated within the site level drainage system.
